Snowbound

Robyn Montgomery has her hands full as she coordinates the class reunions charity auction while juggling her job as a radio station’s music director. She still remembers how the kids taunted her at school. She was the pretty and intelligent girl who always had trouble getting a date. No one expected her to become anything in life. Even her ex-boyfriend, and boss, Damon is often a jerk. He was supposed to escort her to the charity event, she had stupidly volunteered for, and now he claimed he had other pressing issues that needed his attention. Sean Trenton loves skiing. He won an Olympic medal that led to lots of endorsements under his belt. Unfortunately, a stupid accident sent his skiing career plummeting. He was lucky to still be alive. More than anything he wants to feel alive again. Robyn tries to prepare for the charity auction when she learns the real reason Damon wants her to work for him. She is furious. At least one person makes her day, Sean, who is not only handsome, but has a knock-out smile. Sean likes the fact they are both opposites of the other. Sean doesn’t want her to feel threatened by him, because he isn’t there to hurt her. Both lack confidence they must overcome if they wish to further their relationship. With hidden secrets still troubling them both, Sean can only hope their budding romance can come out a winner.

Snowbound is a great read. I love the premise of the story. Robyn is someone many can relate to in her situation with the teasing of classmates. She is most believable in her actions. I liked how she sets out to show her classmates her true self. Her self-esteem finally blossoms showing her human side. Sean is a wonderful adaptation to the story by searching for someone like Robyn to be in his life. He allows the love of a good woman to bring him out of a life that is diminishing before his eyes. Larissa Ione creates lovely characters that are complete opposites and allows them to become one as they channel their emotions and adversity. I enjoyed her descriptions in the book, and when Sean was on the skis, I could almost visualize the whole event, down to the smell of the fir trees and the beauty of the snow. This is one outstanding book that is marvelously crafted.
