Amanda Sims cannot locate her brother, Danny. He disappeared in the woods, and even with the neighborhood’s search party, nothing has turned up. With the full moon beginning to clear the pines, the search is called off for the twenty-year-old. Considered almost as the heathen daughter, Amanda is a witch, not a bad one, and not entirely a good one, but one who worships differently. When the search party leaves, she is stuck with Deputy Josh Kent, who she thinks is a hottie. She heads back into the woods to search for Danny and Josh tags along. Amanda experiences a cold feeling upon entering the deep woods. Josh feels it too, and is able to see the entity, that he refers to as Keeper. Amanda is surprised at how Josh can communicate with the Keeper and wonders what secrets he harbors of his own. Josh tells the Keeper he will give his soul in exchange for Amanda’s brother. Amanda only seeks the safe return of Danny. The Keeper welcomes them to Midland, into an unusual land where the dead walk. Amanda is able to learn of the prophecy of the Earth-walker, and the human that will free the lost souls of Midland. While the two travel the adventurous land, they discover much. They learn about a love that surpasses everything imaginable for the two. Amanda wonders if the Keeper kept his agreement and returned Danny home. Josh believes the Keeper kept his promise but Amanda feels they face more ahead, as she considers the thought of failing the most important task in her life, as a growing attraction develops between her and Josh.

For readers that love a great fantasy, then The Saints Of Midland is the perfect choice. Amanda doesn’t mind voicing her opinions and no matter what outlook she reaches for in life, she loves her brother and will do anything for his safety. I could sense that even though she is spirited, deep down she holds her fears inside not wishing others to see that she, at times, is just as fragile as she is strong. Josh oozes with sex appeal, and all the right ingredients, for a great hero. Both refreshing characters often show signs of being vulnerable making them real, in this magical tale as they sacrifice much. T. L. Schaefer creativity crafts a momentous fast-paced story that is fantastically detailed, and keeps the reader focused until the conclusion. This is one daring journey that the reader comes along for the unforgettable ride with passion, romance and magic all rolled into one.
