Anticipation
“In another life…” had been the last words spoken to her by the cowboy of her dreams and today she is seeing him for the first time in ten years. When her parent’s bought the bed and breakfast Deidre Nelson never expected to be attracted to a rough and tumble cowboy who was their head wrangler. This attraction can go no where because Jonas Mendez was to be married a month from that day. Deidre leaves Texas and goes to New York and has never returned to Texas since that fateful day. Now her parents want to take a cruise and need her to watch the bed and breakfast, especially since there have been some acts of vandalism taking place at the bed and breakfast. Deidre returns to Ventura, Texas knowing that she will have to face her cowboy since he is now the sheriff of the town. The first thing she notices about Jonas is that he is not wearing a wedding ring, and she wants to know why?
When Jonas first met Deidre he thought that his life was all planned out: get married, raise a child and settle down with a normal life. Two weeks before he gets married he finds out that his fiancé is cheating on him with his best friend. He no longer trust a woman and what she says, and he knows that this is not the person that Deidre expected to find when she came home. He can’t help but be attracted to her. She is beautiful just like she was ten years ago, and there is just something about her that calls to him. He knows that if this attraction is going to go anywhere he will have to learn to let go of the past in order to love her. Can he do that or will Deidre return to New York with only more memories of the cowboy of her dreams?
I loved, loved and loved Jonas Mendez!! The book is about two people who were attracted to each other, but did what was right and didn’t betray the confidence that comes between two people who are engaged. The fact that Jonas didn’t betray the trust and then had it betrayed on him makes me love him just a bit more than a normal hero. I loved Deidre because I can see myself in her shoes meeting the one who got away and seeing what would have happened if he didn’t get away the second time around. This book is one of the ones that allow us all to remember the one who got away and do it with a smile on our face, and I would like to thank Patrice Michelle for giving us that precious gift.
