Masquerade

Sophie Pierson wonders if going to the masquerading ball as “Scarlet” was a good idea? She fixed her hair different and was wearing colored contact lenses which was so different from her normal loose pants and shirts that she feels safe in going. She meets a man there that makes all of her dreams come true. He is absolutely perfect in every way imaginable. She takes his telephone number, so they can meet at a later time and continue their very private affair. The next day she is at work and meets her new boss and realizes that her whole world has crashed down around her. Her new boss is “the perfect man”, but luckily he doesn’t recognize her. She thinks that she is the luckiest person alive. However, the more Mac is around Sophie the better his memory, so she might not be as lucky as she thinks she is.

When MacAllister Kincaid meets Sophie for the first time he’s very intrigued by her, she is the pure quiet librarian but something about her draws her to him. She is very smart and makes him laugh at the inappropriate things. When one of his friends flirts with her, he gets jealous and can’t believe that he is giving into these envious feelings for her considering he is seeing Scarlet. He is driving himself crazy with his feelings thinking that he is going mad over two different women until something that Sophie does makes him realize that the two women are one and the same. There is no way that he can let Sophie know that he knows this, but to his peace of mind it is the calmness that he has been waiting for. Now that he knows this he must decide if he has the patience to wait and let Sophie tell him or surprise her with the truth?

Masquerade gets a recommended read because it is one of the best books that I have ever sat down to read. I was drawn into the book by the mystery of the “will he figure out who the real person is” but the book is about so much more. I think that a lot of women can compare themselves to Sophie. She is quiet and does her job but underneath there is a woman that is dying to get out and explore the world in any way she can. Flesa Black draws you into the story by mesmerizing you with the words. You actually feel the desire that flows between this couple and you never want it to end. The secrecy between them is a big turn on and as the story flows and he realizes who Scarlet is you can feel him breathing a big sigh of relief to know that he hasn’t been lusting after two different women. I will be checking out more of Ms. Black’s books and I’m sure that I’ll be just as entranced with them as I was with this one.
