Sweet Vibrations
Lucy Travers has no belief in permanence. Her mother’s seven marriages and her own failed relationship are why she doesn’t believe. When a favored step – uncle dies and she inherits all, she is more than bereft; she lost a best friend who had always been there for her. He had given her his love of motorcycles, taught her to ride and had always encouraged her to go for what she wanted. During the sale of one of her uncle’s motorcycles she meets Lake Ross. She is really interested in him but only considers him for maybe one night because she “knows” it won’t last.
Lake Ross meets Lucy through a friend when they tell him about the cycle she has for sale. He sees a curvy beauty and almost forgets about the bike. However, they go for a ride and negotiate the price. Lake tries to entice Lucy into a date, she refuses but his persistence pays off. Lake feels he and Lucy have real possibilities but he must overcome her issues of abandonment.
Melinda Barron has again written a story that touches on issues of a woman’s perception of herself. Sweet Vibrations was a hit with me, and will be I am sure with others.
Her female characters are everyday woman like you and me, well, some of us may not be into the BDSM scene but she uses the plot to explore Lucy’s perception of herself and what she thinks others see. This is an awesome read whether you’re a size 4 or a size 16 because we all have those little (big) opinions of ourselves.
Her male characters are not so typical men, some are obtuse to certain things, but overall they are what we wish men were like. Lake was a caring and compassionate person, a yummy Dom, and yet you could feel his frustration with Lucy at times.
It is so wonderful to read stories, be they fantasies or not, where the character could be your next door neighbor or You. Melinda Barron is on my must buy list, I scoop her stories up as fast as she can get them out.
