Getting Over It

Men are scum. No two ways about it. Having just been dumped by her long-term boyfriend – and on their romantic getaway to Paris, no less! – Abby Fulton is fuming, upset and disgusted. She is in no mood for chit chat, but somehow the good looking stranger who takes up the spare seat next to her slips past her defenses. A little while later the mile high club was a near miss, but the stranger stays on her mind – until fate drops him into her life.

Prince Willem of Ragnovia is very much taken with Abby and doesn’t fancy taking no for an answer, particularly when her eyes and body are screaming yes at him. Their first encounter on the flight from Paris didn’t go as he would have hoped, but this Prince is hoping that persistence will be the key. It doesn’t hurt that Abby’s job will see her having to accompany him everywhere. But is Abby just a quick fling to him, or will this playboy prince find himself in the grips of an emotion he has never been in before: love?

Getting Over It is a fabulous, fun read with its own spin on an old fairy tale. Abby is a translator with the State Department and therefore gets to see how the other half live, but that life is fairly removed from her own. She doesn’t consider herself anything special, certainly nothing that would appeal to a prince. Only, she can’t seem to shake Prince Willem. He is charming, cheeky and confident (a.k.a. conceited), unwilling to let her deny their attraction. Both are very well developed characters. I was unsure whether I liked Willem to begin with, but he grew on me very quickly. Abby was a character who was easy to like, very down to earth yet with plenty of good qualities. Secondary characters were also a delight, especially Rolfe and Maggie. The plot was excellent; solid, smooth flowing, engaging and truly enjoyable. The buildup between the characters is marvelous, with sexual encounters wonderfully detailed though not a huge or overwhelming part of the tale. Getting Over It is a romance first and foremost and a wonderful one at that! An excellent read, nice and light and perfect if you’ve ever dreamed of your own Prince Charming.
