Dr. Perry Chase is caught between a rock and a hard place when he is instructed by Jordan Remington; matriarch of the powerful Remington clan, to track down and bring home her husband's long lost illegitimate daughter, Legacy, who has heretofore been ignorant of her heritage. Unfortunately for "Chase", not only is the woman who has known her name to be Tara Sellers not interested in claiming her family's fortune, she is also too sexy by half for his peace of mind.

Although Tara resists it mightily, and in fact doesn't even want the property she is due to inherit, inside she is dying for a family. However, her half brothers have even less interest in getting to know her, seeking only to bribe her into disappearing. Old, still festering pain is dredged up by her presence, reminding them of their younger beloved sister who was lost in a car accident with one of them at the wheel.

Chase is left with trying to balance his family loyalties against his unwilling yet growing love for Tara. If that's not enough, in the background a stalker waits, targeting Tara with increasingly menacing messages of obsessive hatred.

In Midnight Legacy, Dee Tenorio completes a trilogy of stories featuring the Remingtons. Each book is powerful, as are the characters. The men are Alphas and the women strong enough to stand up to them. In Midnight Legacy, Tara gives Chase a run for his money, in a very big way. Ms. Tenorio's witty dialogue is whip-like in its speed and ability to hit the targets dead on. Watching Tara battle against her fate, and her feelings towards Chase was as amusing as it was fascinating to uncover her secrets. Although the identity of the stalker seemed a bit of a stretch, the unveiling was chilling enough to make it work. I would recommend this story (and with it the previous two, even though it is a stand alone) for those readers who like to see the sparks that fly when a determined man meets an equally strong-willed woman; the only way the challenges set before them can be resolved is with equal amounts of love and respect.
