Redeemed in Darkness
Redeemed in Darkness is the fourth book in the Paladins of Darkness series by Alexis Morgan. This book does need to be read in order and this review may contain spoilers to the preceding books.
Cullen is one of the warriors that defend the Earth from a race of people that filter into our world through a rift in dimensions. These Others have been coming through in increasingly large numbers and there has been evidence that someone on Earth has been lying to the Others in an attempt to gain strange blue stones indigenous to the other plane. With Barak’s help, the Paladins are attempting to contact someone on the other side to try and halt the slaughter. With Barak off saving his love, Cullen knows that he must keep the appointment with Lusahn, the Other female that Barak feels can help them. When the barrier between worlds falls, Cullen steps across in a reckless show of trust and both Lusahn and Cullen’s lives are changed forever.
Lusahn q’Arc is a Sworn Guardian of the Kalith. She’s forced day after day to patrol to ensure that her people don’t cross the barrier only to die at Paladin sword point. When she’s faced with a letter from her brother, Barak, telling her that he’s chosen to stay with the enemy, she knows that the only honorable thing to do is to kill him now that he’s turned traitor to their people. But when the barrier falls, it’s Cullen, not Barak, there to greet her. When the large warrior steps through to her side she’s faced with a dilemma that is too big for just her. Things haven’t been right in their world, their sun is dying and their people are too. With a corrupt government in place it’s all they can do to survive. Could their sworn enemy hold the key to their salvation? Or at least a possible halt of hostilities?
Redeemed in Darkness proved to be a very hard book to summarize. With so many things going on it was hard to pick and choose which parts to describe. I loved them all and wanted to tell them all! Lusahn and Cullen were fantastic characters that grabbed me and kept me rapt until the wee hours of the morning. I could not put down this book! I was so excited to see the other side of the barrier and Alexis Morgan did a fantastic job in telling the Others’ story. The story arc in this series is phenomenal and I will be honest that I did not see it coming. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment in this series and will continue to snatch up anything that has Alexis Morgan’s name on it.
