Redemption

Redemption is the first book in the Terran Realms series. In the prologue, a seer sees a dark future for earth and the race of Terrans who co-inhabit earth with humans. The Terran’s are a people with powers over the elements to be used to keep earth and humans safe from natural disasters. There is also a group of people who wish to destroy the earth and humans; the destroyers. The seer hides a secret book and the family who guard it, the Wardens, until a time in the future that a “savior” Terran will be ready to save earth, humans and Terrans from destruction.

In Redemption Brenna Kennedy is the Warden of the Sorhineth, the secret book of Terrans and Donovan Callahan is the Terran who has come to find the book. Brenna has no respect for Terrans and as a race thinks they are useless. They certainly haven’t done anything for earth and humans that she can see. The Terrans she knows about are selfish and only concerned with what they can accumulate for themselves. Donovan used to be just what Brenna hates but over the last few months he has become disgusted with the attitude of the Terrans himself. He has come for the book, seeking an answer for how to get the Terrans back protecting the earth instead of only caring about themselves. Complicating matters are the destroyers who have already discovered who Brenna is and have tried to get the book. Brenna is in danger and Donovan’s protective nature requires him to guard her and the book. But neither Brenna nor Donovan expected the chemistry they have when they are together. Can Brenna and Donovan deal with their intense feelings and save themselves and the world from the destruction planned by the Destroyers?

I loved this alternative to the modern world in which Mother Nature is a force that grants powers to Terrans to protect the earth and humans from disasters. If only someone on earth did have the powers to stop earthquakes, hurricanes, etc.., and save people from dying in these disasters. Keira Ramsay kicks off this series with a strong start. I liked the characters of Brenna and Donovan and found myself routing for them right from the beginning of the story. Don’t let the relative short length of this story fool you into thinking it isn’t powerful. Ms. Ramsay packs a lot of story into the short page length. I can’t wait to see what the other authors in this series will do next!
