Finding Jason by Lyndi Lamont is a homoerotic regency story.

Jason, a lord of the realm, has everything a man could want, but he feels something is missing. At a ball, Jason looks at the insipid young ladies, and he feels nothing until he sees a friend from his youth Michael, that he hasn’t seen in years. The two decide to leave early and one thing leads to another with them ending up in bed together. In the past, they were more than just friends until life sent them on different paths. Unfortunately, in their time sodomy, or pillory as they call, it is a fast trip to the gallows. The next day, Jason and Michael are found together and to save Jason’s reputation and possibly their lives, they go their separate ways for the last time. Jason finds that something is missing in his life, but he doesn’t have a clue. Michael returns to the war and to his lover, but things are never quite the same. Fate takes its course and when Michael is fatally wounded, Jason arrives to see him one last time bringing Jason and his lover/valet, Alfred together with a death bed request. Alfred and Jason settle together in a routine, but underneath both of them have unrequited feelings for the other until one day they loose control and Alfred shows Jason what there can be between two men. Will Jason find a way to come to terms with his feelings or are they doomed to let convention come between them?

Ms. Lamont has created a very interesting story incorporating the regency period. It was fascinating to see that modern times may be more advanced, but the treatment of homosexuality is not that different. People in the past and the laws were strict about pillory, as they called it, but today things may appear open while in reality differences are still not accepted. Alfred accepts his inclinations even though they have caused him pain and is willing to put everything on the line for another chance at happiness. Jason feels there is something missing in his life, but he is very resistant to even think about what those feelings could be until he has no choice. When Alfred and Jason finally get together, it is like magic and Jason finds everything he has been looking for all of his life. Alfred teaches Jason that sometimes the hard things are worth fighting for. Thanks go to Ms. Lamont for a very interesting story.
