One Last Breath

Feenie Malone is a rookie reporter trying to break into reporting real news stories not just the obits and weddings columns. When her high society-lawyer ex-husband, Josh, is suspected of unthinkable crimes, Feenie decides to do her own investigating. Her life could be at risk because of her snooping, but she must find out for herself if Josh is really the bad guy he is proposed to be. Feenie is shocked at her discoveries and someone else is interested in her also.

Darked eyed sexy Marco Juarez, ex-cop and private investigator, seeks out Feenie Malone. She could be an excellent source for his most critical investigation. Feenie is very confused, unsure of her instincts after her botched marriage. She is unable to trust anyone except her best friend Cecilia. Juarez could be of use to her. Feenie decides to take a risk and trust him, for the most part. She still has her doubts. Is he using her to get to the bottom of his own investigation or does her really care about her?

Laura Griffin’s debut novel, One Last Breath, is incredibly suspenseful and romantic without being sappy. Her characters are interesting, likeable, and well developed. One Last Breath explores the world of high society crime, deception, family bonds, and trust. Ms. Griffin had my full attention the first chapter. Feenie Malone has it all and is left with practically nothing only to rebuild her life, friendships, love, and to find the truth. I look forward to Ms. Griffin’s next novel, One Wrong Step, coming out in April 2008.
