Caddy-Did
Cadence Fleming is ready to start her training to become an Aztec agent, but she is not happy about who is going to be training her. Kent and Cadence got off on the wrong foot when they first met, and things don’t get better, especially after Kent shows up on their first day smelling like sex and alcohol. Cadence is tired of the arguing, so she sets it up so the two of them are sent away to try to learn to work together, without any distractions. That changes when they end up coming across a body. Now they need to learn to work together, or they might end up as the next victims.
At first I wasn't sure how I felt about Caddy-Did. Cadence seemed too prudish, and Kent seemed too much like a jerk. His actions at first are a sure way to make a hero unlikable. Fortunately, he turned into a character I enjoyed, and I wanted Cadence to like him as well. The more you read the more you root for these two. I love a hero and heroine who don't get along right away! Their transition from dislike to love was written perfectly. For a short story is was believable, as was the action. Jerri Drennen has added just the right amount of romance, action, and sex to make this a very enjoyable read.
