Mattie Bainbridge, a werewolf, was out prowling the night when a big honey-blond male wolf comes upon her. He starts licking her. She is enjoying it when all of a sudden the smell in the air changes to arousal. They both transform into their human form and have wild sex. His name is Anthony Ricci. Anthony and Mattie have grown up together. There are just a few problems. First, he is the ultimate bad boy who always has women vying for his attention. Second, his dad’s pack believes in the Purist’s ways, meaning they don’t mate for life but instead take all females till they carry their scent whether they want to or not. The third problem is that Mattie loves the sex with Anthony but does not want him as her mate.

Mattie was instructed to choose a mate by the end of the gathering or one will be chosen for her. She doesn’t want to go to the gathering but if she doesn’t then she risks the pack being separated by lesser males. The pack needs an alpha male to help run the pack with Mattie. Her mom just hopes that none of the males chosen is a Purist. Anthony’s dad may believe in the Purist’s ways but Anthony does not believe in the Purist’s ways.

Alison Paige is a new author for me. Dark Moon Gathering may be a short read of only 70 pages but within those pages is a great story. The physical as well as sexual attraction between Mattie and Anthony was unbelievable. You might think that is weird or gross about a story of werewolves that includes sex but I have to tell you that it is neither. You can bet that I will be checking out more books in this line and by this author Alison Page.
