Lora O’Hare works at Glamorous Getaways, a travel magazine. Her boss, Greg Thomas is well-known around the office as the heartbreaker. Lora’s determined to stay far away from him. Unfortunately, Lora and Greg had an affair for about three months but now they are no longer together. While at her desk, Lora’s computer goes black. In the screen appears a ghostly figure of a woman. The woman is a banshee. Legend has it that when a banshee cries that a loved one would die if they came close or were going to die by midnight. Lora has to find a way to save Greg from harm or maybe lose him forever.

Defiant Love is a good first book for Kassie Burns. Lora was good in the way that her love for Greg was so strong that she was willing to not just sit back and let the legend turn out to be true. Luckily Greg turned out to be a great guy and not the heartbreaker he could have been. As much as Lora didn’t want to have an office relationship I am thankful she fought for Greg.
