Lawless

Cal Riker is a notorious outlaw and a member of the River Bend Outfit. Laurel Daniels was on her way back from visiting her grandmother when her train is high jacked. She ends up in the hands of Cal Riker. Together they escape the gang and make their way across the Colorado plains to Laurel’s family. Can they make it there before Laurel’s family reaches them? Along the way they fall in love with each other but how will Laurel’s family feel about this match. Someone from Cal Riker’s past has tracked him down. Will Cal Riker’s reputation precede him or will he end up a hero?

Emma Wildes packs quite a punch with Lawless. I appreciated the roughness of Cal’s character in this book. It was just the right amount to make him be every woman’s fantasy. Also I thought Laurel was wonderful, she started out a young lady but grew into a strong woman. This book is what a good quality western ought to be like. It could have lasted a little bit longer. I wished the ending had more of a punch than it did but Lawless was still a good book. The interaction involving the two characters was well done. I can’t wait to read more books by this author.
