Kara has a lot to overcome: the rape she’d endured when she was seven, her mother being sick, and now her brother’s embezzlement. Trying to save her brother from jail, she goes to his boss, Slade Westin, to try to work out a payment plan. The solution Slade comes up with, Kara isn’t sure she can go through with, but knows it’s the only way to get her brother help and save her mother the heartache of a trial and prison for him. Can she marry Slade and give him what he wants, and what she is starting to want also? Or will events from her past come back to haunt her and keep them from having their happy ever after?

Slade Westin wants nothing more than to take care of Kara and show her that her submission is something that he not only wants and needs, but so does she. When he thought up the solution to both of their problems, he didn’t realize that she had issues that just could undermine his tutelage of D/s. After their marriage and in his mind the disastrous wedding night, he vows to himself he’ll make it right for her or give her up and let her go on with her life even if it kills him.

The relationship that grows between these two characters will have readers hoping that they can bridge the gap between them and make it work. It’s sweet, loving, and endearing to see them try to come to terms with not only Kara’s past, but also what they both want in their futures, each other. Ms. Aaron’s storytelling involves the reader’s senses. When Kara or Slade hurt, the reader hurts, when they smile the reader smiles with them. It’s about a woman who learns to trust and grow into herself as a woman and a submissive and the man who loves her.
