Torin and Sunshine

Torin, Captain of the Queen’s Guard, doesn’t want to lose his friendship with Sunshine, nor does he want to end his love affair with her. In order to keep one aspect of his relationship with her, he may have to lose the other. Convincing her that he loves both sides of her, the woman and the wolf, wasn’t as hard as he thought. Watching her change and playing with her wolf brings happiness to both of them. Will Torin be able to show her how good they are together or will they end as friends only?

Sunshine has fallen more in love with Torin than she thought possible. Knowing him, loving him, and admiring the way he is with others only makes her want him even more. With her husband she has to ignore her wolf side, but with Torin she can let the wolf run wild again. If she chooses her husband will she lose the friendship she has come to rely on with Torin? Sunshine doesn’t know where this is leading to, but she wants to find out.

C. E. Barrett’s tale of Torin and Sunshine is a different type of shape shifter story. It isn’t one that the reader has read before, from the physical differences to the way story itself is told. When I first started reading this book, I wasn’t sure about the concept of a shape shifter having an affair. But the way that C. E. Barrett writes has the reader understand what pulled Sunshine and Torin together and ultimately puts them in the position of having to make a decision. The most telling scene to me was when Sunshine’s husband describes her to Torin and that to me is a pivotal moment in the story. This is not a fast read but it is a compelling read.
