Converge
Finn is a research scientist in the world of Alpha; he has devoted his life to studying Beta, another dimension that parallels his world. The true reason for his devotion is because of his forbidden interest in Ari, a resident of Beta. The laws of Alpha forbid interference in Beta’s world but Finn can’t stop his fascination with every aspect of Ari’s life. When Ari suddenly becomes aware of Finn, something that should be impossible, their lives converge on a path that will shake the very foundations of their beliefs.
Finn is an interesting character study. He comes from a world that can constantly see into another dimension and the people are taught from early childhood to filter it out. Finn watched Ari being born and developed a deep emotional attachment to him from that moment on, his fascination and the depth of his feelings only continued to grow over the years and shaped the course of his life. Everything he has done and accomplished in life has been because of his feelings for Ari. Ari on the other hand, is unaware of the other dimension, and has been going through a rough time and when he suddenly becomes aware of Finn. After he gets over the shock, he quickly becomes captivated by all that Finn tells him. Fast paced with lots of surprises, Converge is a well written jewel that ends with a cliff hanger and a thirst for more. Like all the works that I have read by Chris Owen Converge is filled with characters that are so richly textured you feel like you could actually reach out and touch them. The story flows from one scene to another like watching a movie unfold before your very eyes. Chris Owen needs to hurry up and write the sequel so that I can find out what happens next!
