Diving in Deep

Years ago Cameron gave into a night of passion that had him running scared in the morning. Noah, Cameron’s best friend and Adam’s younger brother, figured out that he was gay early on and the object of his desire was Cameron. After repeated brush offs by Cameron, Noah finally gets his wish at Adam’s wedding; a drunken Cameron gives in and Noah loses his virginity to the man of his dreams. In the morning he wakes to find Cameron gone and doesn’t see him again for seven long years. Imagine their surprise when they met again and find that the spark that was lit seven years ago is still there and no matter what Cameron wants it can’t be ignored.

Diving in Deep by K.A Mitchell is a satisfying tale of a man running from what he needs but doesn’t want. Cameron is a conflicted man; he has had his share of men and has been happy with his traveling lifestyle but the big 3-0 has started him thinking about what is missing in his life. Noah is a grounded man who knows what he wants out of life and isn’t afraid to go after it. His attraction to Cameron has never faltered and he jumps at the chance to see him again. The chemistry between the two was palpable and continued to grow throughout the story. The reader is privy to both men’s thoughts and this enables us to feel closer and more empathetic to the feelings that Cameron is dealing with, what seems harsh and cold takes on an entirely different meaning when looked at through his eyes. I enjoyed the emotional byplay between the two and really felt the angst of the characters. Sometimes what you think you want is not what you need and the trip to discovering that was what made this story the delight that it was.
