Zamiel is a rogue raptvyn. Marked as a “Shunned One” by his ancestral flock as a child after his father’s bid for leadership failed, Zamiel has spent his life becoming a healer and a mercenary for hire. He has avoided all emotional entanglements until he finds himself caring for an injured raptvyn. Arno raises feelings that Zamiel is hard put to deny. When his friend and sometime lover, Mitzi, sees them together she realizes this may be her last chance to get the traditional Raptvyn trio that she desires.

Zamiel is a scarred, tough, and hard-edged man. He appears to be unfeeling and uncaring at times but it’s the glimpses we get of the tender and loving person he could be that redeems him. Arno is much easier to like. He is a man unashamed of his feelings and knows that they don’t weaken him but in reality strengthen him. The two together are hot but when you add Mitzi into the mix it gets even hotter. She adds that added piece that the two men needed to complete their relationship. Raptvyn’s Rogue is filled with twists and turns and isn’t a simple love story. Kate Hill also adds in murder, treachery, and what it means to be a leader. I found the struggle an outcast faces to find his place in a society that has shunned him and the daunting task of letting down his guard enough to allow himself to be loved and to love in return to be the most fascinating aspect of the story. I was also happy to see a few characters from Windswept that I had previously fallen in love with. Kate Hill has written an entertaining and erotically hot read with Raptvyn’s Rogue.
