Luke Cantrell is a famous rock star who goes through his bed partners as fast as he travels from town to town on tour. Luke is living the “Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll” lifestyle to the fullest in an attempt to forget Sully, his childhood best friend and the object of all his sexual fantasies. Luke left his small Texas hometown as soon as he turned eighteen and ran as far as he could before he could act on his feelings. In an attempt to straighten his life out Luke returns home to admit the truth to everyone, no matter the cost.

While Sully’s Heart is a love story the focus is more on Luke and his journey to self discovery. Adrianna Dane has done an excellent job of delving into the reasons behind Luke’s path to destruction and the steps he must take to drag himself out of the hole that he has dug. The intensity of his love for Sully is apparent from the first mention of him. Ironically, Luke ran because he feared that if Sully ever discovered that Luke had sexual feelings toward him he would lose their friendship. But because he ran he lost all contact with Sully and lost that friendship anyway. The road to love is sometimes torturous and long and we can only hope that in the end it was worth the drive. My one complaint with this story was that it was so short and Adrianna Dane spent most of it focused on Luke and his journey. I would have enjoyed getting to know more about Sully and his voyage of self discovery as well.
