Taking the Leap

Ross Thatcher has returned home to Colorado after being left by his longtime lover, Kevin. Once there and surrounded by his family and their lovers it becomes too much and Ross takes off to travel the country, moving from one place to another and never staying long. Ross is trying to lose himself in the road and forget Kevin. After his truck breaks down and leaves him stranded in a small Texas town the mechanic, Tank, takes pity on him and invites him to stay until his truck is fixed. Tank’s friendship is just what Ross needs and as the days turn into weeks Ross finds himself dwelling less on the past and more on the future.

Ross Thatcher was one of my favorite characters from the previous Thatcher books by Julia Talbot. I felt each emotional upheaval as if it was my own and shed a few tears as Ross progressed on the road to recovery. Taking the Leap is all about closing your eyes and letting go. Ross has been hurt deeply by his past relationship, one he thought would be forever, and is now scared to open his heart to anyone. Tank is just what the doctor ordered. An easy going guy who has no problems expressing his thoughts and feelings, he is a sharp contrast to the uptight and insecure Kevin. Ross comes to realize that what he thought he wanted may not be what he needed all along. Julia Talbot has a way of writing that makes her characters and the troubles they face very realistic and believable. Not everyone is accepting or even tolerant of the lifestyle her characters live but their depth of emotion allows them to overcome and thrive. I love this series!
