Deke and Kasey are partners in a Private Investigation agency and partners in life. When they begin this latest case they realized that something is up from day one. The woman that hires them is lying and the man they are trailing is not some cheating spouse but a genetic mutant that the woman is trying to get back into the lab.

Deke and Kasey work well together even though they are opposite species. Deke is a werewolf and is very impulsive and instinct-driven while Kasey, as a vampire, is more cold and calculating. Both bring something special to the table that makes their partnership work but I felt that The Werewolf Code: The Moon was just too short for me to fully appreciate the connection between them. Deke was explored more fully as a character than Kasey and I would love to know more about each one of them. While the case they were working on was interesting, the reasons behind it were never fully explored and at times I felt it was a bit rushed. The story was well written but left me with a hunger to learn more about Deke and Kasey and what makes them tick and I can only hope that Julia Talbot will be further developing them in a future story.
