At Loves Command
Ian Witherspoon is an ex-soldier who fought in the Peninsular War. He has an ongoing relationship with his best friend and fellow ex-soldier Derek Knight. Two years after leaving the war Ian decided to marry his betrothed, Sophia Middleton. He believes that having a wife and children would allow himself and Derek to find peace and happiness.
Derek hates the idea of Ian marrying. Derek believes that a wife will come between his relationship with Ian and cause Ian to leave him. He is determined to hate Sophia even though he has never met her.
For years Sophia has prayed that Ian would return and marry her, taking her away from her father and brother therefore saving her from their abuse. She has heard the rumor about his relationship with Derek and has no desire to interfere.
Ian was devastated when he realized what Sophia’s life has been like. He regrets not returning for her sooner and is even more determined to marry her and finds himself falling in love with her. Derek also finds himself first admiring then falling in love with Sophia even though he fights it and at first was determined to hate her. Sophia is happy to escape her family and find love and happiness. To have a chance of exploring the love they feel for each other they have to overcome evils of their past that is determined to destroy them.
Reading At Loves Command felt as if I was revisiting beloved friends and sharing the ups and downs as they fight to build a life together. It is the fourth installment in the Brother in Arms series and each book just seems to be getting better. The plot even though somewhat simple and straight forward has plenty of twist and tension to grab your attention and keep it. The sex scenes are plentiful, hot and will definitely raise your temperature and put you in the mood to play. The characters are so realistic you cannot help but get drawn into their lives. Samantha Kane has done it again. She has written an amazing story of the love between three people and the obstacles they fight and overcome to achieve their happiness. I absolutely loved reading At Loves Command and know that I will definitely do so again.
