Paige Woods is a plus size thirty-eight year old woman who wants to have a child. She has always wanted a family. Since she has not met ‘mister right’ she decided to have a child on her own, with the help of a fertility doctor. She was disappointed to find herself being attracted to Vincent when she saw him at the gay bar she was at with her best friend.

Vincent Manos is a werecat and the alpha of his pride. The minute he met Paige, his beast half recognize her as his mate. He knows that her being human would present a few obstacles, but he is determined to have her in his life.

Vincent has to first convince Paige that he is not gay and that he does want her. He also has to find a way to convince her to trust in him and to let him be the father to the children she so desperately wants. Paige had already decided to have a child on her own and was not ready to trust in Vincent and the picture of a family and their being together.

Wicked Shift is a short story with a simple, straightforward plot. It is well written with few characters. Celia Kyle wrote a story of two different people falling in love. I did like the basic plot of the story but felt it should have been expanded upon. I feel as if I was not able to actually get to know any of the characters well and could not develop a relationship with them. I found myself laughing at the very end of the story; Celia Kyle adds a wonderful surprised that kept the story from being monotone and adds a bit of spice. I hope that the next story in the series will be a little more exciting. Overall I found Wicked Shift to be a nice story to read.
