Sidelined By Love

Returning home to get her life back together after the wedding that wasn’t, Gaby Flores never expected to run into her high school sweetheart. And when everything she felt as a teenager comes crashing back with adult intensity she’s left to fight that and the regional mall his company is trying to develop on the outskirts of town.

Brock Logan never really knew why Gaby had dumped him back in school but finding out is the least of his worries. With her fighting his company’s plans to turn Logan Springs into a thriving town he needs all his wits to convince the town his plan is a good one. He can’t afford to have his brain switch off whenever she’s within reach. But Gaby always was his weak spot and it seems in ten years nothing’s changed.

Sidelined By Love is Ana Aragón’s first novel and for my money it won’t be her last. I loved this story with humor, drama, lust and love Ms. Aragón brings us a great read that’s satisfying on many levels. Poor Gaby, run through the ringer by her ex-fiancé she’s in no shape to face the heartbreaker from her youth. Brock’s not fairing much better; with a recent divorce, a young daughter and a demanding company, the last thing he needs is to get involved with the girl that broke his heart. At one point I thought a good talk between the two might sort them out and get them together but then I realized there was far more than just a youthful misunderstanding in the way of happily ever after. I enjoyed the way Ms. Aragón had me going through numerous emotions. All the supporting characters are just as lovable; I can’t wait to see what she comes up with for them because there’s no way they aren’t getting their own stories. Gaby and Brock’s best friends getting together is one I’m particularly hanging out for. I did see at the end of the book a mention of Brock’s sister Nikki getting her story first and I’ll be keeping my eye out for that one. Sidelined By Love is more than worth picking up and I dare you to put it down, I know I couldn’t. Ana Aragón is an author worth watching.
