When Yoda and SpongeBob stormed the bank in Winosha, Wisconsin, most people would have at least been scared—not Turner Hastings. Turner sees this as a chance to finally right a wrong that has plagued her for four years. After Yoda and SpongeBob leave via the accidentally blasted out front door, Turner calmly empties a safe deposit box into her purse and leaves.

FBI Special Agent John MacKinnon has been assigned a seemingly simple case in the backwoods of Wisconsin. Saddled with a troublesome partner and amazed by Turner’s audacity in taking advantage of the bank robbery, John finds himself throwing out the rule book and enjoying the cat and mouse chase that Turner leads him on. When things suddenly escalate and a hitman enters the picture John may need to choose between his job and Turner.

A quirky whirlwind through hot nights and dangerous woods, Hot definitely lives up to its title. From the unique beginning of this book to the steamy conversations rife with innuendo that Turner and John have throughout, this book is fantastic. I enjoyed the intelligence that both characters showed and the fact that they both were aware of the fact that life is almost never black and white. Julia Harper takes us through these shades of grey with her characters and you end up cheering for them all the way. Not just for their relationship, but for their own personal goals as well. I was very happy to read this book and have to say that I will be looking for more from this new-to-me author.
