Shadow Magic

Grey D’Anu with Hannah Wentworth has always held herself back from the other witches in her coven. Now that the evil goddess Ceithlenn has invaded San Francisco with her Fomorii demons and is still searching for her husband Balor – the coven is persona non grata amongst the very people they are trying to save. When the coven approaches the Drow again for help in their battle against evil, this time they are armed with a message from the Guardian. Hannah finds herself confronted with a man she is drawn to yet can’t even fathom being attracted to, let alone in a relationship with. Becoming the emissary to the Drow is the last thing she wants, but to save the world she must bend.

Garran is the King of the Drow and has just been reunited with his daughter, Rhiannon, one of Hannah’s coven. When he meets Hannah for the first time he knows that she is his. But faced with life with Hannah or a better life for his people, Garran must be a king and do what is best for his people.

A fascinating problem – can one truly sacrifice the needs of the one for the needs of the many? Especially when the one’s needs being sacrificed are your own? Garran does an amazing job of cramming as much as possible into a small amount of time while not showing his greed for experiences with Hannah. You really hurt with them as they struggle against what seems to be insurmountable. Hannah was hard to warm up to at first because of the way she’s portrayed in the previous books, but Cheyenne Mccray does a great job of humanizing her and making you cheer her on. Shadow Magic is not the end of this series, there were a lot of unfinished things at the end of the book and I can’t wait to see where Ms. McCray takes it next.
