Erotic Research

Julia has spent the last ten years writing historical romance novels. When her editor, fantasy lover, and only friend, Ross, suggests that she go to his cabin in West Virginia to get past her writer’s block and consider writing erotic romances, she thinks that is just the thing she needs. Ross even gives her a few erotic romances so she can familiarize herself with the genre. After being there for a day, Ross shows up right before a blizzard traps them in. His plan is to help her “research” the different aspects of erotic romances and while she’s at it, fall in love with him. Will their friendship be the same after they conclude their thorough research or are there deeper feelings that they need to explore?

Ms. Carr’s first novel, Erotic Research, immediately drew me in like a fly to a Venus flytrap. The story moved as fast as the storm that trapped Julia and Ross on the mountain. Both Julia and Ross cherished the relationship with each other and neither wanted anything to jeopardize it. Ross was a dominating alpha male that sent your pulse racing. The way he came prepared to make the “research” happen was a bold move because he didn’t know how Julia would react to his plan. Julia was a sweetheart who just didn’t want to get close to anyone because they always ended up leaving her. I truly adored both characters because even though they had their weekly Thursday Pizza Night Ritual, they never seemed to talk about the feelings they both had for one another. What better way to have to get to know someone you love and trust than being snowed in? I have to say, I was engaged and intrigued by this debut novel by Ms. Carr and I definitely keep my eyes open for her next book.
