Claire Scanlan is a new real estate agent just coming out of a divorce and beginning her new life. She would really love to get the listing for the LeGrande property and sell it, but when she enters the house she feels a strange, scary presence. A horrible murder had taken place in the house and Ben Grant, the brother of one of the murdered victims, is trying to sell the house and move on with his and his young step-niece’s life. Can Claire sell a house with the strange ghostly presence or must she solve the murder to clear the house of the “residue?” It won’t be easy; someone or something doesn’t want Claire to either sell the house or solve the mystery. And what about her attraction to Ben—what if he had something to do with the murder?

House of Whispers by Margaret Lucke is Book One of the Supernatural Properties and an excellent start for her new series. The book contains all my favorite elements: strong, independent characters, intense sexual attraction between the main characters that might lead to a lasting relationship, spooky paranormal occurrences and the underlying thread of danger that builds the suspense up to a climatic ending! And best of all, Ms. Lucke plans to do it again as this is just the first book of the series. I really like the character of Claire and it sounds like she will continue to find additional “problem” houses in the future for the other stories in the series. I can’t wait. I was drawn into Claire’s story from the first page and could hardly put the book down for wanting to know what could possibly happen next. Well done, Ms. Lucke!
