If Not for You

Someone is threatening Layla Whitford and Max Lerner but they don’t know each other or anyone in common who would want to harm them. Who would do something like this and why? Obviously someone wants them to meet so they oblige them and then the world really goes crazy. Someone wants more than to harass them, someone wants to seriously harm them or ruin them professionally and the threats seem very personal. Layla and Max are about as opposite as you can get. She is a free spirited, laid back, happy-go-lucky personality. Max is a formal, suit everyday, stressed business man. The only thing these two have in common is they both work in the computer industry. But there is something else no one expected; Max and Layla have tremendous chemistry together. Can Max and Layla figure out who is targeting them and why before someone gets hurt? Can Max and Layla have a relationship and survive each other?

If Not for You by JL Wilson is a wonderfully quirky romantic suspense. Layla’s character seems flighty and very causal but her personality masks her intelligence and her tender heart. Max just seems uptight and doesn’t know how to relax—yet! The clash of these two personalities is fun. They are not only opposites; they are stubborn, both have been hurt, and neither wants to risk serious involvement. The story also contains a number of fun secondary characters to add to the entertainment. But while all this fun is going on, someone is still trying to harm Max and Layla and the underlying threat of harm keeps you, the reader, on your toes wondering what will happen next. I really enjoyed this story and could hardly put it down. Every time Max or Layla think they have figured something out or relax there is another threat or attack and they are back to scrambling to stay safe. I will be watching for other humorous and highly entertaining romantic suspense titles from this author!
