Of Dragons

Ryon Colley is a cop, so when he spies unusual lights that appear to be a fire he responds like a cop and calls for help. When he actually gets to the lights he discovers it is something strange a woman is doing and he has no idea what he is seeing. Is Ryon losing his mind? Glynt is from another dimension and didn’t mean to call attention to herself, but now she has endangered herself, Ryon, and her world. Before the day is over Ryon finds himself back at Glynt’s apartment but this time he is rescuing her from a mass of dragonflies that are … eating her? Also since he first encountered Glynt strange things have been happening to him; where he once had straight brown hair he now has a mass of soft silky blond curls, just like Glynts. Ryon is also strangely drawn to Glynt and can’t stay away. He senses when she is in trouble too. What is going on?

Of Dragons by Melody Knight is a very unusual tale. The story is full of fanciful things like another dimension in which people change into something else and dragons that are determined to eat people. I enjoy fantasy stories and science fiction but this is one of the weirdest tales I’ve ever read. The two dimensions couldn’t be more dissimilar. On earth Glynt and her kind are human and can live safe lives if they don’t advertise their differences. In Glynt’s dimension, people barely survive and are the food for dragons. Life is in constant danger and the people are almost completely gone from the planet. It does make the characters recognize how blessed they are on earth. In the midst of all of this is a romance between Glynt and Ryon that must surely be doomed. They are from two different worlds and each has a place in their society. Then there are some secondary characters who become involved. The story is filled with adventure, danger, and conflict. Now that Ryon and his friend know about Glynt’s world can they just ignore it or should they get involved? Is Ryon really human as he believes or something more as Glynt believes? If you are looking for an unusual tale of adventure, the strength of the human spirit, and love all rolled into a fantasy story about other dimensions, then you will enjoy Of Dragons.
