Tears of the Dragon

Rodick, a knight of the Castle Du Magn, meets a beautiful princess named Arondele and is immediately attracted to her. Arondele is an innocent maiden who longs to know love and family but she is also a dragon shifter. Arondele and Rodick get carried away by their passion and now Arondele is no longer a virgin. It is death for both of them in the dragon community for the princess not to be a virgin when she takes her maiden flight. Arondele is determined to save Rodick so she flees. She may be killed, but he will be safe. Is there any hope for this mismatched couple? Surely love can find a way?

Tears of the Dragon by Carolina Valdez is a cute fairy tale type of romance. I felt Arondele was a little too naïve and Rodick should have suspected there was something different about her but overall I liked them. Ms. Valdez has created an interesting dragon world that is living hidden away from the human world. I am more used to dragons interacting with humans in these types of stories and it is probably this complete separation of their two societies in Tears of the Dragon that explains both Arondele and Rodick being so naïve about the other. It would be interesting to read a sequel to this one to see if the interaction started by Arondele and Rodick leads to a permanent change in the separation of the two societies.
