My Vampire and I

My Vampire and I by J.P. Bowie is a homoerotic paranormal love story.

As we begin, Marcus is taking a long vampire rest after the love of his life was taken from him in a terrible fashion. Marcus couldn’t take the pain, so he withdrew until he sensed the presence of a new love until he sees the man of his dreams which awakens him to find this man. At the same time, Roger has always had an extreme fascination with horror movies especially those about vampires, so when his friends throw him a horror birthday party no one questions the very handsome visitor, Marcus, who appears to be dressed as a vampire. Roger is immediately smitten and his feelings remain even when he learns that there is more to Marcus than meets the eye. Marcus flies Roger off to his home and together they kindle a fire that threatens to overwhelm both of them. Roger soon realizes that Marcus is a vampire with all the complications that go along with being a vampire, one being that enemies live a very long time and vampires do hold grudges for a very long time. Roger must decide if his love is strong enough to weather the loss of all he holds dear in the mortal world to join Marcus for all time.

J.P. Bowie has created a fascinating story about tow very strong men who find what they always wanted, someone that will love then in spite of their flaws. Marcus has been alone for a long time and never expected to find a man who wanted and appreciated him for himself. Roger always loved the occult, but he never expected to live out his dreams. I loved how Marcus isn’t your average vampire, he has feelings and needs that show his very human side. It was fun to watch how the party on Halloween allowed Marcus to approach Roger in a less threatening way, not that it would have made any difference. It was interesting to watch how Roger accepted all of the unusual things about Marcus without question. Thanks go to J.P. Bowie for an intriguing story.
