Isosceles Triangle

Dr. David McAllister was a man on a mission. For ten years, he’s been trying to build a working cyborg, and for ten years, he’s failed. His assistant for the past five years, Chelsea Dawson, knew just how single-minded Dr. McAllister could be. She’d been trying to get his attention the entire time she’s worked for him, hoping to make him see just how much she is attracted to the brilliant scientist -- all for naught. But now, McAllister has successfully cloned a cyborg of himself, a cyborg named Adam, who from the moment of activation has demonstrated his strong attraction to Chelsea. Will Chelsea take the opportunity of a lifetime?

This is an interesting novella in which the eroticism springs from and is motivated by the science fiction setting in which the story takes place. The author takes advantage of the stereotype of scientific monovision and extrapolates how that behavior might affect the people around that scientist. Ms. Alan communicates this theme in a minimalist fashion, using only a few characters to tell the story. I particularly liked the character of Chelsea Dawson, who comes across as a very real, down-to-earth woman who is willing to fight for what she wants. This novella is very graphically sexy and contains a ménage à trois. I enjoyed this story, both for the hot character interaction and the intriguing commentary on a possible future for our society.
