The Captain’s Wench
Buying Heron House is the next step in Meg Carroll’s life plan. It’s the perfect place for her to finish her story about pirates and love. Despite the rumors of a ghostly inhabitant, Meg sets up her home office and starts painting walls.
Captain Alexander London died with his ship and has been haunting his own home for over 150 years. He doesn’t like people living in his house and has successfully scared off each and every person. When Meg moves in and starts painting his walls he is surprised to discover that she is the one person who isn’t scared of him.
The Captain’s Wench by Patti Shenberger is a well written enjoyable read. Meg discovers Alex in the house she purchases and doesn’t know what to do. It is evident that she is drawn to him and Ms. Shenberger writes in a way that the reader is drawn into Meg’s emotions. As I was reading, I was pulled along the roller coaster ride between Alex and Meg. I could feel the yearning from Meg and at the same time her refusal to believe that anything could ever exist between herself and a ghost. This was an easy, fast read for me. I enjoyed The Captain’s Wench and look forward to reading more books by Ms. Shenberger.
