Whatever Gets You Through the Night
Bari Jordan has achieved more at twenty-six than most. Newly married to Earl, her high school sweetheart, and working in her dream job as an advertising executive for a top New York agency, Bari is finally where she wants to be in life. But long hours from work have taken time away from her relationship, and Earl is having a hard time coping. Earl is having professional difficulties of his own, but no longer has his wife home to lean on for support, leading Earl to seek comfort from other sources. Altered into a dark persona, Earl is intent on terrorizing his wife. Will their relationship survive and can the couple overcome their difficulties?
Thrown into Bari’s life starting at a very young age, we gain a perspective on moments that have shaped her mind and the critical issues she will have to face. Whatever Gets You Through the Night deals with the topic most professionals face with finding a balance between their career and personal lives. However, it also knocks on the hard subject matter of substance abuse and abusive relationships. Through all of the ups and down Bari had the support of loved ones to help her through the trying times. What I loved about this book was how Teri Denine shows how we can be sucked into a life that we didn’t know existed. Regardless how strong we are, sometimes circumstances can be beyond our control and we will have to learn to overcome the difficulties. Ms. Denine has written a book about deception, denial, and then determination to make a change. Whatever Gets You Through the Night is an inspirational book that skips the fairytale way of life and thrusts you into the beauty and harshness of the real world.
