In the second Halle Pumas’s book, Simon, the pack Beta, realizes that Becky is his mate when she is attacked by a crazy, power hungry, female puma at a local masquerade party. Now Simon, Max, and Emma have a lot of explaining to do. How could they all be puma shifters and Becky not have a clue what was happening around her? What is this mate business anyway and does Becky want Simon? Becky does think Simon is the sexiest man she’s ever laid eyes on and they seem to have some incredible chemistry but she doesn’t know what to think about the idea of becoming furry? When Becky begins to have some health issues, Simon is concerned that there something seriously wrong with her? Will Simon lose his mate before he even convinces her they are meant to be together?

This story is a humorous and charming paranormal romance. I recommend you read The Wallflower, the first Halle Puma book, before this one because reading them out of order would spoil the first book for you. Parts of this story happen parallel to the action in the first book but this time follow Simon and Becky’s point of view instead of Max and Emma’s. Becky and Simon both have a wonderful sense of humor and Becky’s smart mouth keeps their relationship lively. Simon has a few things to learn about Becky and how to deal with a woman without making her mad and Becky has to learn all about puma shifters and pack life if their relationship is going to succeed. Their incredible chemistry ensures that their sexual relationship is sensual and hot and doesn’t need any work! But the main problem in this story stems from the unusual illness affecting Becky. Does she have some kind of untreatable disease or is there something sinister going on? If you like a quick read about shifters, filled with humor and a mystery, then you don’t want to miss any of the Halle Puma books. I hope there is a third book in the works because I really enjoy this series!
