Hot Property
Zoe Chandler has exiled herself to a secluded lake house to finish her expose on art collectors. Her neighbor is Nick Mirovic who has a troubled past. Nick was a civilian interpreter during the peacekeeping mission in Kosovo and he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. There is a definite attraction between them but trouble comes to their door so Zoe and Nick run for their lives.
It was difficult to like the lead couple. Zoe is not as smart as she should be. With all her credentials, she should have been street as well as book smart but she isn’t. At times her actions are quite naïve and dumb. Nick has been through a lot but that shouldn’t excuse his behavior toward Zoe. Nick comes across as a jerk with mental problems. As a couple they lacked sizzle and chemistry thus making it hard to be swept into their story. The book moves at a brisk pace interwoven with lots of erotic action. Yes, there is lots of sex in this book but this reader didn’t feel there was lots of tenderness or love expressed between the couple.
Since we had issues with the lead couple, it was very tough to root for them or to be pulled into their story. Having enjoyed many of Ms. Johnson’s previous books, Hot Property is strictly for die-hard Susan Johnson fans.
