Keldar is a hard, barren land that was cursed thousands of years ago and home to the fierce white dragon. Through the years many warriors have tried to kill the dragon, and all have failed and died a painful death. Then Jalan, chief of the Krait tribe, comes along and breaks the curse that held the ferocious dragon which turns her from a dragon back into a beautiful woman, but only for a short time. Now Jalan must complete his quest to break the curse that keeps their land desolate by killing the woman who he believes is just for him.

After being released from her curse, Chanda the White, the last White remaining, has a desperate need to feel the touch of this warrior. A touch she hasn’t felt for over a hundred years. Jalan has the same need as Chanda, and they come together as one then spend the night talking about the curse over the land until Jalan tells her that the only way to remove the curse is by killing the last White.

Survive My Fire is a unique and intriguing tale that had me riveted from start to finish. Author Joely Sue Burkhart has combined elements that you wouldn’t think would work well together and melds them into a captivating tale of legends, dragons and love. Some of the descriptions and emotions in this story were so bleak that it made the smallest displays of kindness and love feel like the sun on a cold, rainy day. 4 Angels!
