A Cowboy Dreams

Leah Smith is a best-selling romance novelist who has had a crush on pro baseball player Marcus Slade since she was a teenager. Even though he is now her neighbor, she knows that she is not his type – he appears to prefer women whose cup size greatly exceeds their IQ. That doesn’t keep her from using him as a model for the hero of her latest novel, though. A girl can dream, can’t she? What Leah doesn’t know is that Marcus has had his eye on her for over a year now, and that was before he found out that she is his favorite author. When the opportunity arises for him to get to know Leah better, Marcus jumps to take advantage of it. He is sick of dim-witted bimbos and wants to pursue his own happily-ever-after ending with the lovely author. Leah’s been hurt in the past, however, so it is up to Marcus to convince her that she is his dream come true.

A Cowboy’s Dream by Anna Kathryn Lanier is a quick romantic read that is sure to appeal to lovers of the happily-ever-after ending. This story twists traditional roles and makes it the hero who believes in romance and the heroine who is wary. For a romance novelist, Leah certainly does not appear to believe in what she writes. She is very quick to misjudge Marcus and misinterpret his actions, and she leaves the poor man completely confused by her erratic behavior. Marcus’s only real fault is his poor taste in friends. He is endearingly open with Leah and willing to take a chance with her, and he is not about to let his dream slip through his fingers when it is so close. This story is worth the read in order to see him get the happy ending that he deserves.
