Mrs. Claws

Lauren Rose is single once again because her ex-husband left her for a younger woman. Wanting to have a personal life again, she tries multiple ways to meet men, with her latest dating attempt as "Liz" on-line. After chatting with "Hank," who seems to be a very nice man, they decide to meet in person. Lauren puts on her makeup, chooses a sexy dress and heads to his house. The only problem is—the man who lives there knows nothing about her or why she is there. "Hank" quickly realizes that his young son was trying to set him up by making a date with "Liz." The encounter ends badly when insults fly between them. Lauren has finally given up on dating, but she is determined to get into the Christmas spirit, so she applies to be Mrs. Claus at the local mall. David Dawson is a Christmas fanatic. Not only does he have his lawn filled with decorations, he takes the role of Santa very seriously. The mall has very strict rules that Mr. and Mrs. Claus remain anonymous to each other so they can relate better in their roles. The couple seems to get along very well, but the curiosity between them turns to attraction. Asked to attend the Christmas party in costume, Mr. and Mrs. Claus find time to sneak away to explore, not only their feelings, but each other. What begins as a potentially hot encounter suddenly turns cold when they realize that she is "Liz" and he is "Hank." Lauren and David try to avoid each other after that, but working together makes it impossible. How will they resolve the problem of their love/hate relationship? Will they become Christmas lovers, or will their time together stretch into the New Year and beyond?

K.Z. Snow has written another great story. Although this story follows Two Out of Three Ain't Bad, Mrs. Claws stands very well on its own. Lauren finds herself in a situation that many women have experienced—finding themselves back in the dating pool and trying not to drown in it. David has a great personality, and his upbeat view on life extends itself to the reader. Their were many hilarious parts, like when the bratty kid gets explosive candy, and when Santa's adult elf, Ralphie, keeps Lauren's friends from causing trouble by pinching their bottoms and flirting with them. I liked that Lauren and David were attracted to each other first while in costume. It shows that attraction can go deeper than the physical. These two were made for each other. Lauren was in need of finding happiness and the Christmas spirit, and David was the perfect choice to give it to her. I was sorry to see the story end. I would like to see what happens in the New Year. What about all her nosy friends? Will they get a chance at love some time in the future? There are possibilities out there—we hope.
