Seduction: A Black Door Novel

Mason Anthony has successfully moved from his role as a server at The Black Door, to manager at The Black Door Two—a club designed with a young clientele in mind. Determined not to mingle with the customers, Mason does his best to control his sexual needs. What he really wants is Ms. Right—the one woman who will satisfy him not only sexually, but emotionally. One day after taking a jog, Mason stops into the local coffee shop, and sees a woman who he knows is "the one." His attempts to engage her in conversation fail, and she walks out the door. Mason has never given up on anything, so he begins the search to find his mystery woman. Terra Benson is a spoiled heiress with nothing but time and money on her hands. Terra wants to become an actress, but believes she should be given a starring role simply for who she is. She sets her sights on long-time friend Sage Hirschfield, the owner of a new theatre. In the meantime, Mason continues his search, finds Terra at a local nightclub and sets out to woo her. Terra and Mason hit it off and spend a hot, lusty night together. When Mason wakes up, she is gone before he can learn her name, but when he sees their picture in the paper, he knows she can't hide from him anymore. Mason pursues Terra, and they fall deeply in love. But someone from Mason's past is threatening to ruin everything he has worked for, including his newfound love. Will Mason put an end to the threats, or will he do anything to keep his secrets from his one true love?

Seduction: A Black Door Novel was a very entertaining book. The story entwines characters from the first book, The Black Door, into the plot but this book can be read as a stand-alone story. There were some references to the first book that were puzzling at first, but as I continued to read, I was able to establish the connections. The twists and turns of the plot, along with the determination of each character, whether a main one or secondary, move the story along at a good pace. The story visited some of the theme rooms at the club and described the happenings within—all of them extremely exciting and hot. Velvet crosses many lines other authors avoid, and pulls the reader into each experience, scheme, sexual exploit and mystery of the characters. There are many doors left unopened at The Black Door, and readers will anticipate the release of the next installment.
