Christmas Cookies: A Sprite's Tale
Nick St. Nicholas is trying to help his uncle out. I mean, the man hasn't has a break in over 2000 years. So Nick steals the sleigh while his uncle is putting on his wide black belt, and feels good that his plan is going...well according to plan. But four hours in, and he hits a snag, turbulence from a Qantos Stratos 1500 to be exact. Crash-landing the sleigh on the outer banks of Australia was not part of the plan. He thinks he can get things back on track...until invisible hands start him thinking along a different track. Cassie is a bushland sprite, a paranormal creature from Down Under that has dominion over plants. Old Man Claus gives her a mission this Christmas Eve, asking her for a distraction for his nephew. Cassie is pretty sure what she has in mind was not the distraction Santa had in mind, but Nick is just too hot for a bushland sprite to resist. Things may work out fine for Nick, but how is Santa going to fix the Christmas mess Nick started?
Oh my gosh! This holiday story is so much fun. And blistering hot to boot! The story is written in first person, switching back and forth between Nick and Cassie's thoughts. The switch between the two flows very easily and adds a nice dimension to the story. Both characters have a wry, witty sense of humor that is amusing and comical. I slapped my thigh more than once over the actions of an animal or plant. The sleigh accident had me snorting out loud. The description of Nick made my mouth water. Mmm...those abs, that behind. Cassie's mischievous and playful personality is endearing (although her 'wild side' shows as she has the vines tie Nick up). Although short, Ms. Couper has timed the story just right. Sex is explicit, but an integral part of the story, and that was part of the charm for me. It was well-paced and the climax left me with a satisfied smile.
