Midnight Reign picks up where Night Rising left off. Dawn Madison has begun working for Limpet and Associates. Joined by her father’s former coworkers she continues her search for her missing father and along the way faces many trials and tribulations. Dawn is still fascinated by the boss, Jonah, and surrounded by the cast of intriguing characters that we met in the previous offering in this wonderful series. Jonah is as mysterious as ever but we are fed more glimpses into his character and left with a desire to delve even deeper into his psyche. The intricate interactions between the characters, the delicious plot, and the fascinating world building that Chris Marie Green has gifted readers with in Midnight Reign makes this a novel that I am more than happy to recommend to all urban fantasy lovers. The precision with which the author introduced flash backs to give the reader detailed history without becoming pedantic, her deft hand with characterization, and an action packed plot all combine to make Midnight Reign a must read. I absolutely loved Night Rising and was fearful that Chris Marie Green wouldn’t be able to equal, much less, top it, I am thrilled to say that I was completely wrong. Midnight Reign has raised the bar on how an urban fantasy novel should be written. I can’t recommend this novel or this series enough, it is a must read!
