Jhaan, crown prince of the planet Dakar, is on a quest. Like all men of Dakar, he must search for his mate -- the one woman with whom he can link. Unfortunately, not all Dakarians find their mates, because the ratio of males to females is 50 to 1. Jhaan is under some pressure to succeed in his quest, however, because as crown prince, he must mate by his thirty-fifth birthday, or be declared sterile and no longer eligible to become the planet’s ruler. His quest is interrupted by the appearance of two spaceships in the sky over Dakar.

Rianna, princess of Salazar, does not know why her small spaceship is being fired upon by another craft. Attempting to evade the pursuer, Rianna crash lands her ship on Dakar -- near Jhaan’s location. Together, Rianna and Jhaan stop the assassins, and Jhaan realizes that Rianna is his lifemate. But since she is not a Dakarian, he must persuade her to link with him before his time runs out!

This is book 2 in the author’s series A Part of Tomorrow. The author skillfully blends science fiction and romance, resulting in a balanced but suspenseful plot. The multiple plotlines serve to increase the tension leading to a grand climax in which all is resolved. I like the characters, especially Rianna and Jhaan, who came across as balanced, interesting people. I especially liked the fact that the female characters in this book are multifaceted and intelligent. The love scenes are at the same time romantic and explicit. All in all, this was an excellent read. I really enjoyed this novel.
