She is so much in debt that the only way out maybe suicide. But Lorelei is stronger than that and for the time being, she will take part in a culinary competition and hopefully win so she can pay off some of her debt.

When Lorelei arrives, she decides to take a short nap near an empty pool. When she awakens, she is in shock to watch as a naked man comes out of the pool and starts seducing another woman across from her. They both don’t see Lorelei at first but before the couple can finish what the have started, one leaves and the seductive stranger finally sees Lorelei and confronts her.

Galen Kennedy is one of the judges for the competition and the naked man Lorelei assumed was just a pool boy. He can’t get this fragile looking woman off his mind and is beyond thrilled when he finds she will be staying at the hotel his brother owns. As the competition heats up, Lorelei is lost when it comes to Galen. They embark on a passionate love affair where trust becomes am issue between both of them. There is also an unfortunate murder, an unplanned pregnancy and Galen’s wife comes back into the picture. Lorelei thought her cooking adventure would give her time to reevaluate her life, but things have taken a turn for the worse.

A Scent in the Night has so many things happening at once. There is romance, mystery and a dark nature to Lorelei that you truly won’t know till the very end if she will make it out alive. Even though Lorelei may be tortured from her past and the situation Galen puts her end, she still rises above it all. If you like alpha heroes who won’t take “no” for answer, Isabella Montwright also delivers that very well. This is not a simple romance that is all roses for our couple, but one filled with angst and the uncertainty of a future. There are also many other characters who are just as determined to win at all cost which includes Galen’s witch of a wife, Brenna and that of Lorelei’s closest confidante, Maurice who is very concerned for her emotional state.

If you like a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat and a passion between two people that can’t be contained, A Scent in the Night should be on your must read list.
