In Hidden Urges, Ms. Ryder explores the complicated relationship between a sub and her master. Because make no mistake about it- a mistake Jane is certainly not allowed to make- Trenton is a master through and through. However, he is also a man, not a monster, capable of feeling and showing understanding and tenderness…while at the same time demanding complete obedience in the bedroom at all times. It is this contradiction which captivates Jane, just as her struggling with giving control to him versus a stubborn independence fascinates Trenton. When he sets her free of obligation to him, their bond is tested.

It is interesting to note that Trenton does not make use of any external force, forgoing any sort of chain, cuff or restraint, and a bare minimum of manual "discipline". Instead he relies on the power of their mutual attraction, and Jane's desire to please him to exert his mastery over her. The sex scenes in Hidden Urges which slowly morph into love scenes have a searing intensity, as they do in all of Ms. Ryder's books. With this keeper, she has once again proven herself to be a stand out author in her genre, drawing the reader into her story with ease. Five Angels, Recommended Read.
