Too Good To Be True

Sheriff Rilla Devane has a problem; her number one suspect also happens to be the guy she’s lusting after. How can she keep herself from falling under his spell when she needs to get close to him to uncover the truth? She’s promised to bring down the drug ring responsible for the death of two teenagers and her father and nothing will stop her, not even her growing feelings for Mac Callahan.

Mackenzie Callahan lives and breathes undercover work, but after screwing up his last case by getting too close to his suspect he has no intention on doing it again. Only Sheriff Devane is more than he bargained for. Can he keep his distance long enough to solve the case or will he make the same mistakes all over again?

Death, drugs and sex. Sounds like an exciting tale doesn’t it? Well, get out there and buy the book. Too Good To Be True has it all, death, drugs, sex, lies, suspense and romance. It’s often hard to review a book that’s already being raved about but I had no trouble with this one. Marie-Nicole Ryan crafts a beautiful tale, combining many different emotions with an ease and skill that’s enviable. Ms. Ryan’s tale of a small town sheriff struggling to get to the bottom of a drug ring and the murder of her father is at times nail biting and at times humorous. She seamlessly moves you through emotions and I might have been working up a sweat but it appears as if she didn’t. Rilla has to find her way through a tangled web of lies that are only complicated by the arrival of Mac. These two steam up the page from their very first encounter and things only get hotter between them. With neither of them able to trust the other the tension is tweaked so tight I was waiting for it to snap and send my laptop zinging across the room. Too Good To Be True is nothing like its title; it offers you a great read that has you racing through the pages. If you like Romantic Suspense do yourself a favor and get this book. I’ll definitely be watching for more of Ms. Ryan’s books in the future.
