Fires of Solstice

Meredythe Welsh is smart, bold, dedicated, and determined. She is a reporter on the trail of a story that could make her career. When Meredythe’s boss suddenly pulls her off the case, she is screaming mad and ready to throw a fit that may cost her, her job. Mid rant, Meredythe finds that she is to be given another story, something far more dangerous and intriguing. While in her boss’s office demanding answers she suddenly finds her self face to face with the sexiest man she has ever seen. He makes her suddenly want hot nights and wild sex, until he opens his mouth that is. When Meredythe finds out the details of her story, she finds that she must work with the very man she has just decided she does not want to see anymore.

Dr. Bleddyn Glyndwr is an expert on and works with wolves and wolf hybrids. He is more than what he seems he is, a werewolf. A secret that he has closely guarded, lest he become imprisoned caged, experimented upon and extinguished in a lab experiment, or worse killed. Repeatedly thwarted by fate, and searching through endless centuries heartsick, aching and alone Bleddyn has finally found his woman, his mate. Determined to have her and not be forsaken in this life, Bleddyn will stop at nothing to have what is his, he will woo, seduce and charm his way into her heart and bind her to him. She will end his curse. Bleddyn gets his chance when Meredythe starts to search for him not knowing whom he really is and after their first encounter, he is in no hurry to tell her.

The dialogue between all the characters was wonderful. The plot was very nice as well but should have had more in depth descriptions of the past relationships between Bleddyn and Meredythe. I enjoyed the sensual build up between these two strong people. They both knew what they did and did not want and they went after it. I also enjoyed how the author evolved the familiars. The animals helped the story along a great deal; they were witty and very funny. Secondary characters rounded this story out very well. I would like to have understood the relationship between Meredythe and Bleddyn more. I think that helps bring a depth to the story that I found at times lacking. In parts of the story, I got the impression that the characters would never reconcile and all they would do is argue. I would have liked more intensity, more romance and I thought the protagonist should have played a bigger part in the story than what he did. Despite the things that I have named I really did enjoy this tale, it is just not one of my favorites by this author. Does this mean that she is off my auto buy list? A resounding no! Not at all, I plan to buy the next story coming form this author. Congratulations Ms. Mays.
